Love Day Quotes....Because every day is love day...and I am writing my card super late...

Making Change: Katie Makkai - Pretty

I'm a strong believer that all change starts from within. I really enjoy this video (just ignore the f word it makes you uncomfortable, but don't tune out) and it just goes to show everyone can turn around and be their version of pretty.

Craigs List Decorator

So I find that in Winnipeg Craigs List really sicks but I hear from people pretty much everywhere else that it rocks. I love this video (although long) because it really shows what you can do when you're a little creative! I mean $500 for a whole new look? Not bad!

Thought of the Day

“If a man wants his dreams to come true, he must wake them up.” -Franklin D Roosevelt

A girl friend of mind sends out a "Thought of the Day" every day. I'm not too sure how many people she sends it to but I think it's a great idea. I'll be honest, I don't always read them and sometimes they just stock pile in my inbox and I get to them when I have time but there's thoughts like the one above that really speak to me. I mean really right? WAKE UP YOUR DREAMS!! I'm working on this one myself but there's nothing worse then having dreams and doing nothing with them. It can start with something as simple as just talking them out with a close friend, or writing them out in a journal. Then get on to making a bit of a plan. If you don't get to action it's going to stay asleep forever! Wake it up darling!

Orphaned Postcard Project

I just thought I'd share this cool project with you. The way it works (or what I understand so far) is that you pick one or a few postcards you want to adopt, wait for them to come in the mail with instructions, then write a little something about yourself (or a lot!) and mail it back. I am starting to get into the whole snail mail thing again (thanks to my sister) and I thought this one would be fun to try!

Here's how to join in!

Make Me Happy Monday: Drift Wood Arch

Isn't this beautiful? I don't really have a reason to have a drift wood arch, and I don't really have the room in my backyard for it, but I for sure want it! I've always had a soft spot for drift wood. I'm not too sure why. I think it might be something to do with all the different places it could have traveled from. All the waves and storms it went through getting polished and bleached along the way and then to make it all the way to the beach to get washed up for our enjoyment.

Have a happy Monday!

In case your going to New York anytime soon!

"New York's famous City Hall subway station has been closed for decades but can now be viewed again by in-the-know riders of the 6 train"

Isn't that amazing? I think that's so cool that they opened it so you can see it as your riding along. Makes me want to go back to New York just to see it!

Our Christmas Traditions

I love Christmas (if you haven’t already noticed!) and I love all the traditions. When I was little we had all sorts of things we did together and I love carrying some of those over to now, being all grown up and having my own place. I know it’s more something you do when you have kids but it makes just as much sense to do it now, just me and Marshall, because really why not? Memories are memories, and why not have something to hold on to every year? Something to look forward to because you know it’s one of your traditions?! So, I thought -in case you don’t have a lot or any of your own, or if you’re looking for a few more- I would share ours!

Do a movie marathon (we have homemade baking, watch at least 5 movies and this year we’re ordering in Chinese food)

Spend a few nights doing a lot of Christmas baking (you’ve seen my list, it’s pretty long this year!)

Put up the tree and decorate the house (always in November so that we can enjoy it for as long as possible)

Come up with all sorts of stocking gifts and open those first (sometimes on Christmas Eve)

Watch at least one Christmas movie

Go to at least one Christmas service at Church (our church has special services all December)

See some sort of play or musical over the winter season (with my mom)

Go to the Festival of Trees & Lights

Check out the Gingerbread House Contest at The Forks

Drive around and see all the houses decorated

Make a gingerbread house or tree (with my mom)

Have at least one homemade traditional meal complete with turkey, stuffing, mash potatoes and all the other fixings

New tradition this year:

Buy a holiday hand soap from Bath & Body Works (we’re usually the all natural bar soap type of people but I got one from a girl friend and I have to say it is a really nice treat)

Do you have any special traditions? I’m looking to add a few more and I’d love to hear them!!

Oh I love this! Again another one where I wish my hair was long enough to be able to do this (and that I even knew how to in the first place!)

Ok Maybe I'm Ok With 3D TVs

So I saw this commercial and it sort of made me like the idea of 3D TVs. I can't say I want one because just seeing 3D movies in the theaters sort of makes me dizzy but this commercial sure makes me dream (which I think is supposed to be about getting myself one of these TVs!) and dreaming is always a good time!

When I'm Prago I Want to do This!

I saw this a little while ago and what a great idea hey? A photo and a little write up on how things are going. They're putting it in a book to give to their little girl one day to look back on. How cool hey? I know a lot of women don't like to get their photo taken at the best of times, but this is such a great thing to look back on! I know I'm going to suck it up, get over the fact that I think I look fat and do it!

Let's Send Something to Space

Wow, isn't this great? A family just decided to do this together! That's some serious commitment and what good memories those kids will have. I mean really how many kids can say "Ya, me and my dad send something to space just for kicks"?
